Low-pressure system moving eastwards likely to ease rain and cloud cover, says Nepal National Mountain Guide Association
KATHMANDU: The Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), in collaboration with senior meteorologist K.B. Manandhar, has issued a weather update indicating gradual improvement in weather conditions across Nepal by November 1, as the current low-pressure system moves eastward.
According to satellite observations from the IMD Geostationary Meteorological Satellite, recorded between 4:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on October 31, a well-marked low-pressure system has reached the North Indian plains of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, extending into adjoining areas of Nepal. The system has generated thick thundery clouds over Bihar and the eastern Tarai plains of Nepal, contributing to the recent period of heavy rainfall and cloudiness.
The report notes that the weather system is moving east-northeast (ENE) and is expected to reach northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, and northeastern India by November 1. As it moves away, weather activities in western Nepal are likely to improve by midnight on October 31, although low-level clouds below 5,000 meters may persist for some time.
In the central and eastern regions, weakened weather activity could continue until late night or early morning on November 1, before clearing gradually.
Overall, the association forecasts a noticeable improvement across Nepal from November 1, with partly cloudy skies remaining mainly over the mid-mountain regions.
The NNMGA has been closely monitoring weather conditions affecting mountaineering and trekking activities, emphasizing that the improvement in weather will provide favorable conditions for ongoing expeditions and travel in high-altitude areas.
