KATHMANDU: The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), under the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), has completed significant trekking trail improvements over the past year to enhance the safety and comfort of trekkers.
A total of 18.1 kilometers of trails have been upgraded, including 7.08 kilometers of stone-paved and stepped sections and 11.03 kilometers of well-maintained earthen paths, the ACAP reported. Additionally, three wooden bridges and culverts have been constructed to facilitate safer river crossings for trekkers.
Emergency shelter houses are now available at nine strategic locations across popular trekking routes, including North Annapurna Base Camp, Ghale Kharka–Sikles Ecotrail, and Jomsom–Tilicho Lake. Furthermore, a new campsite has been established at Tara Hill Top to support trekking activities.
These developments aim to provide safer and more enjoyable trekking experiences in the Annapurna region, reinforcing its status as a premier destination for mountain tourism.
