KATHMANDU: Nepal's Embassy in Bangkok convened a Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting between Nepali and Thai tourism operators on May 29, positioning the event as a platform to rebuild a Thai visitor market that has contracted over the past decade despite rising outbound travel from Thailand.

Held at the Amari Hotel in Bangkok, the meeting drew 18 Nepali tourism companies and institutions alongside over 100 representatives from 63 Thai travel firms, one of the more substantive trade engagements between the two countries' private tourism sectors in recent years.

Deputy Chief of Mission Moti Bahadur Shris presented 13 years of bilateral tourism data, highlighting a concerning trend: Thai arrivals to Nepal fell from 40,969 in 2013 to 30,243 in 2025, even as Thailand's total outbound tourism grew. The figures, he said, pointed to considerable room for promotional effort.

Nepali operators presented Nepal across multiple tourism segments, Lumbini and Buddhist pilgrimage, Janakpur and wedding tourism, Kathmandu Valley heritage, Everest and Annapurna trekking, wildlife, yoga and wellness, film tourism, and high-altitude adventure, framing the destination as accessible and multi-dimensional for Thai travellers.

Participating Nepali businesses included Dusit Princess, Aloft, Hotel Royal Singi, Karnali Rafting, Mountain Routes, Kathmandu Holiday Tours and Travel, Pumori Journey, Himalayan Holidays, Adventure X, Lapara Di Tour, Apex Himalayan Treks and Expeditions, Himalaya Treasures Trekking, Himalayan Journey, Barang Village Community Homestay, Core Treks, Nepal Airlines, and Buddha Air.

The embassy confirmed Nepal's tourist visa process is fully online, with near-instant issuance available in urgent cases, and committed to regularly promoting visual materials produced by Nepali operators through its official channels.
