KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is promoting Nepal’s tourism products in Japan, with nine Nepali tourism companies joining the board and Nepal Airlines Corporation at Tourism Expo Japan.

The participation coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan. NTB said Japan remains an important source market for Nepal, and the event provides an opportunity to develop new tourism products and strengthen business ties between tourism operators of the two countries.

At the expo, Nepal is being promoted as a destination for mountain, adventure, nature, cultural and wellness tourism, with offerings ranging from trekking and wildlife experiences to rafting, heritage tours and wellness activities.

NTB said Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, the Annapurna region and the Everest region remain fully operational and accessible despite the recent flash floods along the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli corridor.

According to the board, the floods primarily affected parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, causing loss of lives, homes, businesses and livelihoods, while major tourism and pilgrimage destinations elsewhere in the country continue to operate normally.

Reiterating its message that “Nepal is open,” NTB said continued international travel to Nepal can help support affected communities, local businesses and tourism workers while recovery efforts continue.

The participating Nepali companies are Gochali Tours and Travels, Sumegh Tours and Travels, Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks & Expedition, Langtang Ri Trekking & Expedition, Ghale Treks & Expedition, Buddha Maya Gardens, Rupakot Resort, Chhaya Devi Complex (Aloft Kathmandu Thamel) and Gorkha International Travels.
