KATHMANDU: The Valley Group, a leading poultry business firm in Nepal, has been awarded the prestigious sustainability certification from the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), further solidifying its reputation as a leader in Nepal’s food and protein industry.

The recognition was presented during the U.S. Soy Connext event, recently held in Washington, D.C., where Valley Group’s Managing Director, Baburaja Rawal, received the honor from USSEC Chief Executive Officer Jim Sutter and other senior officials. The certification acknowledges Valley Group’s adoption of the “Fed with Sustainable U.S. Soy” label, a symbol of its commitment to sustainable practices and healthier food production.

Rawal, who has been part of Valley Group since 2002, attributed the achievement to the collective dedication of the company’s workforce. “This recognition inspires us to accelerate our vision of building a legacy of delivering unmatched, healthier, and fresher quality protein—day in and day out—to every consumer, empowering the nation with prosperous health and happiness,” he said.

Dr. Ashesh Bhattarai, USSEC’s Country Lead for Nepal, highlighted Valley Group’s exemplary role in promoting protein consumption across the country, calling the company a role model for sustainable business practices.

Echoing similar sentiments, Umesh Chandra Sapkota, Director at Global Agro Products, emphasized that Valley Group’s steadfast commitment to becoming a household name in premium-quality food products—renowned for taste, service, and affordability—was key to earning the sustainability certification.

At the helm of Valley Group, Baburaja Rawal brings extensive expertise in strategy formulation, client relationship management, performance frameworks, change management, and continuous improvement. Under his leadership, the company has continued to build on the legacy of its founders—Late Shreekrishna Prasad Ghimire, Hari Krishna Rawal, and Sanubabu Bindukar.

“For over four decades, Valley Cold Store, a subsidiary of Valley Group, has been expanding its retail network while streamlining the supply chain from farm to doorstep, ensuring that customers receive fresher and healthier products,” Rawal added.

Founded in 1984, Valley Group is an ISO-certified company that operates a diverse portfolio of businesses, including Valley Cold Store, Valley Feed Industry, Valley Poultry, and Valley Pellet Feed. The certification from USSEC reinforces the Group’s mission to advance sustainable practices while bringing high-quality protein to consumers across Nepal.
