A team from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal successfully reached the summit of Mt. Chulu Far East (6,038 meters) today morning as part of the 2025 Reconnaissance Expedition, according to the 14 Peaks Expedition Pvt. Ltd.

The ascent was carried out under the guidance of Fourteen Peaks Expedition Pvt. Ltd., with CEO Tashi Lakpa Sherpa confirming the successful summit early this morning.

“The team reached the top at 7 AM today. It’s an honor to support APF Nepal in this important and historic ascent,” said Sherpa.

“We are deeply honored to have been entrusted with the APF Nepal – Chulu Far East Reconnaissance Expedition 2025,” the 14 Peaks Expedition said. “This achievement is a testament to the exceptional courage and capability of the APF team.”

The summit team included Danta Bahadur Chhatyal, Kamal Shrestha, Manoj Khadka, Nirmal Basnet, Ravi Khakural, Suraj Paudel, and Top Bahadur Dangi. They were expertly guided by two Sherpa guides from 14 Peaks, Sumba Chhiring Sherpa, and Mingtemba Sherpa.

This expedition also holds legal and procedural significance. In recent months, the APF Nepal initiated efforts to formally open Mt. Chulu Far East for official climbing permits. Previously, climbers would obtain a permit for Chulu East, and then ascend Chulu Far East, a workaround that had become standard practice.

With this successful summit, conducted under a dedicated permit for Chulu Far East, the mountain has now gained formal recognition as a legally permitted peak for mountaineering in Nepal.
