KATHMANDU: The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has issued a public appeal seeking information on a South Korean national reported missing after trekking in the Everest region.

According to TAAN, Yeon-Sang Chung, 67, is believed to have been trekking in the Khumbu area between December 23, 2025, and January 6, 2026. He was scheduled to return to South Korea on January 10, but failed to do so, prompting concerns over his whereabouts.

TAAN said only limited details are available about Chung’s travel arrangements, including whether he was trekking independently or through a registered trekking agency with a licensed guide. Chung is approximately 165 cm tall.

The association has urged trekking guides, tourism entrepreneurs, lodge operators and local residents in trekking destinations to share any information that could help locate him.

Anyone with relevant information has been requested to contact TAAN at 9843687548 or info@taan.org.np , or to inform his relative in South Korea directly.
