Around 400 Trekkers Set to Cross Larke Pass Following Clearance

KATHMANDU: The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has announced that the Manaslu trekking route, including the Larke Pass section, has reopened for trekking as weather conditions begin to improve across the region.

Citing information from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, TAAN stated that rain and snowfall have ceased in most parts of the Manaslu region, allowing trekking activities to resume. The update was based on reports from the District Administration Office, Gorkha, and coordination with local municipalities and tourism entrepreneurs.

According to the association, around 400 tourists and support team members departed Samdo for Dharamsala on Saturday and are scheduled to proceed toward Larke Pass on Sunday.

TAAN has, however, urged all member companies to ensure trekkers are accompanied by licensed guides and adequate support staff, emphasizing strict safety precautions.

The notice also highlighted that the road is currently accessible only up to Khorlabesi, while areas beyond — including Jagat, Philim, Dang, and Nyak — may still face occasional landslides and rockfalls. Trekkers are advised to move cautiously through these sections.

TAAN further requested trekking agencies to coordinate closely with local authorities, security agencies, and conservation area offices to ensure safe trekking operations. It also appealed to avoid auxiliary or difficult trails and to use only the main route for the next few days as conditions stabilize.
