KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has invited applications for the listing of intangible cultural heritage for the current fiscal year 2082/83, calling on individuals, communities and institutions associated with such heritage to apply by Chaitra 15, 2082.
Issuing a public notice, the ministry said applications must be submitted in line with the Internal Guidelines on Intangible Cultural Heritage (Listing and Management), 2082. The initiative aims to formally document, safeguard and manage Nepal’s diverse living cultural traditions.
Applicants are required to submit detailed documentation, including a complete description of the heritage, photographs, audio and video materials, consent from the concerned community or group, information on intergenerational transmission, and a recommendation from the relevant local government. Proof of prior listing at the local level, if any, must also be included.
The guidelines and application forms can be downloaded from the ministry’s official website or obtained from the Culture Division’s National Secretariat for Intangible Cultural Heritage Listing at Singha Durbar.
According to the ministry, applications for intangible cultural heritage listing can be filed annually, with March 29, 2026 set as the regular deadline each year. The move is part of the government’s broader effort to preserve Nepal’s cultural identity and ensure the continuity of traditional knowledge, practices and expressions.
