KATHMANDU: Two members of the 8K Expeditions Autumn 2025 team successfully reached the 8,167-metre summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nepal’s seventh-highest mountain, the company confirmed.

The summiteers are Pavlo Sydorenko of Ukraine and IFMGA-certified Nepali guide Ashok Lama, who topped out despite the peak’s steep faces, unpredictable weather and remote Himalayan setting.

"Everything went as per plan and the weather was just perfect," Lama said.

Sydorenko’s climb adds to an extraordinary year in which he has already stood on K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Gasherbrum I and Annapurna I, all with 8K Expeditions. The company credited Lama’s expert guidance and technical skills for ensuring the team’s safe and efficient ascent, calling the achievement “a powerful reflection of perseverance, endurance and unyielding spirit.”

Dhaulagiri, often regarded as one of Nepal’s most formidable 8,000-metre peaks, continues to attract elite climbers seeking high-altitude challenges and reinforces the Himalaya’s reputation as a premier mountaineering destination.
