Rope-fixing teams depart for Ama Dablam, Himlung expeditions

Expedition Operators Association Nepal has dispatched rope-fixing teams to prepare climbing routes on Ama Dablam and Himlung Himal for the autumn 2026 season.
KATHMANDU: Rope-fixing teams for the Autumn 2026 climbing season on Ama Dablam and Himlung Himal have been formally sent off by the Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOAN).
Association President Dambar Parajuli handed over the flags of the association and the Department of Tourism to the teams on Monday, wishing them safe and successful operations on the two peaks.
According to Rishi Ram Bhandari, General Secretary of the EOAN, the Himlung Himal rope-fixing team is scheduled to depart on September 23, while the Ama Dablam team will leave Kathmandu on Tuesday morning.
Snowy Horizon Treks & Expedition will manage base camp operations and logistics for the Himlung expedition, while Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks & Expedition has been assigned similar responsibilities for Ama Dablam.
The teams will be responsible for preparing climbing routes and fixing ropes, a critical task that ensures climbers have access to safe and established routes during the autumn mountaineering season.
The completion of route preparation will pave the way for domestic and international climbers attempting both peaks during one of Nepal’s busiest autumn expedition periods, Bhandari added.
