KATHMANDU: The rope-fixing team successfully reached the summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri I (8,167 meters) on Friday. The team reached the summit at 7:05 am, according to the Seven Summit Treks.

The team reported that the ascent was carried out under fairly good weather conditions, making it possible to complete the crucial task of opening the route for all climbers attempting the mountain during this autumn season. This achievement marks the official start of summit opportunities for numerous expeditions currently stationed at different camps on the mountain.

The summit was achieved by four members of the rope-fixing team, namely Lakpa Temba Sherpa, who served as the fixing leader, along with Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Furba Kusang Sherpa, and Tasi Sherpa.

This rope-fixing operation was jointly conducted by Seven Summit Treks and 14 Peaks Expedition, under the leadership of Lakpa Sherpa, who is also known as Makalu Lakpa in the mountaineering community.

Both companies expressed their pride in the team’s accomplishment and extended congratulations to the Sherpa climbers for their dedication and hard work at such extreme altitudes.

With the rope-fixing complete, Mt. Dhaulagiri is now officially open for summit attempts in the autumn 2025 climbing season. Expedition leaders and mountaineers are expected to make their summit pushes in the coming days, weather permitting, following the route that has been successfully prepared by the Sherpa team.
