Dhaulagiri records season's first summit

KATHMANDU: Pioneer Adventures has recorded the first summit of the season on Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) this morning, with a 17-member team of international climbers and Nepali guides reaching the top of the world's seventh highest peak.

"Our team of climbers who have started their journey from different parts of the world to the top of Mt. Dhaulagiri have successfully reached the top this morning," said Mingma Dorchi Sherpa, Chairman of Pioneer Adventures. "Their dedication and hard work were truly commendable and worth every praise."

The international summiteers represented six countries: Iryna Halai and Valentyn Sypavin of Ukraine, Kyoko Iwata of Japan, Eichul Chung of South Korea, Vladimir-Radu Falcutescu of Romania, and Bhagwan Bhikoba Chawale, Shivaji Laxman Nanware, and Dwarka Vishwanath Dokhe of India. The Nepali guide team comprised Sanu Sherpa, Lakpa Ongjuk Sherpa, Nima Ungdi Sherpa, Dandu Sherpa, Dawa Chhring, Ang Gelu Sherpa, Ang Dawa Sherpa, Nikhil Sherpa, and Lakpa (Lankee) Sherpa.

"Hats off to our achievers," the Pioneer Adventure wrote in the social media.

The Dhaulagiri summit comes on the same day that multiple teams also recorded successful ascents on Annapurna, signalling that Spring 2026 is gathering momentum across Nepal's high-altitude climbing zones.
