The proposed initiative was discussed during a high-level meeting between the Nepal Mountaineering Association and the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s International Mountain Museum could soon have a dedicated Russian Corner, following discussions between the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu.

A delegation led by NMA President Fur Gelje Sherpa met Russian Ambassador to Nepal Aleksei Vladimirovich Surovtsev and senior embassy officials on Friday to discuss the proposed initiative.

The meeting focused on the concept of establishing the Russian Corner at the International Mountain Museum and its potential to strengthen cultural and institutional ties between Nepal and Russia, according to the NMA.

NMA officials said the discussions provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on the proposed initiative and explore areas for further cooperation with the Russian Embassy and the Russian House in Kathmandu.

The meeting was attended by NMA General Secretary Rajendra Bahadur Lama, Secretary Chandan Thapa, Treasurer Sumi Moktan and other central secretariat members, along with Chief Administrative Officer Jinesh Sindurakar.

Anastasia KHOHLOVA, Counsellor and Director of the Russian House in Kathmandu, also attended the meeting.

The NMA said it looks forward to further collaboration with the Russian Embassy and Russian House in Kathmandu to advance the proposed initiative.
