KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board has brought together 35 travel video makers, vloggers and social media influencers to discuss how Nepal can promote its tourism more effectively and authentically in the digital age.

The interaction, organised by the NTB at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, focused on ways to present Nepal's destinations and experiences to wider international audiences through digital storytelling.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel, Nepal Tourism Board Chairman and Tourism Ministry Secretary Mukund Prasad Niraula, and NTB Officiating Chief Executive Officer Hikmat Singh Ayer attended the interaction.

Minister Paudel stressed the need to showcase the “real Nepal”, saying the country's tourism story should go beyond its mountains, landscapes and heritage to highlight its people, hospitality, culture, stories and everyday interactions that make visitors' experiences memorable.

NTB Officiating CEO Ayer welcomed the content creators and called for their continued support in promoting Nepal's destinations and tourism experiences to audiences around the world.

The creators shared their experiences and discussed challenges in promoting Nepal, including the need for stronger coordination among government agencies and stakeholders, better synchronisation of promotional efforts and more effective use of the tourism-related content already being produced.

The discussion also highlighted the changing nature of destination marketing, with participants stressing that tourism promotion increasingly depends on compelling and credible stories rather than conventional advertising alone.

The NTB said the interaction was aimed at strengthening collaboration with creators who are already travelling across Nepal, producing visual content and sharing their experiences with audiences at home and abroad.
