KATHMANDU: Nepal has returned to normal life after days of political unrest and nationwide curfews, with transportation, tourism services, and daily business fully operational once again.

The transition follows the appointment of Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the country’s first woman to hold the post, which has brought renewed political stability and public confidence.

Public transport, long-distance buses, and both domestic and international flights are now running on schedule.

Hotels, restaurants, and travel services across popular tourist destinations have reopened, creating a safe and comfortable environment for guests, according to Executive Board Member of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Rishi Bhandari.

“All tourism services are functioning smoothly,” added Bhandari.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, NTB highlighted Nepal’s resilience in the face of past crises, from natural disasters to political unrest, noting that the tourism industry has always rebounded with the support of international travelers and the enduring allure of the Himalaya and the country’s rich cultural heritage.

"Globally, destinations that have faced similar political upheavals have demonstrated tourism's ability to recover swiftly, and Nepal is no exception," it noted.

"Nepal is now safe, peaceful, and ready to host visitors from around the world," NTB stated.

The board expressed confidence that the sector will regain momentum quickly as visitors return to experience Nepal’s mountains, sacred sites, and vibrant traditions.
