JANAKPURDHAM: A three-day Madhesh Tourism Meet concluded successfully in the major Madhesh cities of Janakpurdham and Birgunj, marking a key initiative to boost cross-border tourism between Nepal and India.
Jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Birgunj Metropolitan City, and NATTA Madhesh, with support from SOTTO, HAN Janakpur and Birgunj, and FNCCI Madhesh, the event aimed to promote tourism cooperation and foster mutual understanding between Indo-Nepal border cities.
The meet brought together tour operators and media representatives from across Nepal and India’s neighboring states, including Bihar (Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Patna), Uttar Pradesh (Varanasi, Ayodhya), and West Bengal (Kolkata, Siliguri).
Key highlights included B2B sessions and familiarization (FAM) trips to tourism sites such as Janakpurdham, Dhanushadham, Barah Kshetra, and cultural landmarks around Birgunj. Participants were introduced to new tourism products and upgraded facilities in the region, equipping them to better promote and package the destinations for their clients.
Organizers expressed optimism that such cross-border engagements will help strengthen regional tourism networks and encourage sustainable growth in Nepal’s southern tourism corridors.
