Autumn climbing season sees 1,450 climbers on 175 teams, USD 1,812,611 royalty collected

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s mountains have remained active this autumn, with the Department of Tourism reporting that up to October 31, 1,450 climbers from 175 expedition teams received permits for various peaks across the country.
The royalty report published by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation shows that 1,105 male and 345 female climbers participated during the season. The total royalty collected amounted to USD 1,812,611 (NPR 255,165,436), reflecting the continued economic importance of mountaineering for Nepal.
The report includes detailed statistics, upto October 31, on the number of climbers per peak, revenue generated, and participation from climbers of 83 countries.
