Hilly belts of Koshi, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and parts of Lumbini face risk of intense showers

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s monsoon low-pressure axis remains positioned north of its average track, currently lying over the Tarai belt, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reported today.

While monsoon conditions continue nationwide, the influence of moisture-laden winds has slightly weakened.

For today, the DHM expects generally cloudy skies across much of the country, with moderate rainfall likely in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Scattered showers may occur in other hilly regions and in parts of Madhesh Province and other Terai belts. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in Lumbini’s Terai zone.

Tonight, conditions are expected to remain cloudy nationwide. Moderate rain is likely in some areas of Madhesh Province, along with the hilly belts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

Other hilly and Terai regions could also experience showers, with heavy rain possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
