KATHMANDU: A team of rope-fixing climbers from Expedition Operators Association Nepal successfully scaled Mt Ama Dablam, fixing the route to the summit point, officials said.

“A seven-member team opened the route to the Ama Dablam summit at 11:40 a.m. on October 13, becoming the first to scale the mountain this season,” Damber Parajuli, president of Expedition Operators Association Nepal, confirmed.

The Expedition Operators Association Nepal has assigned Himalayan Guides Nepal to manage base camp logistics for the route fixing team in Ama Dablam this season.

“Under the leadership of renowned climber Nuru Wangchu Sherpa, the EOA rope-fixing team opened the route to the summit point,” Iswari Poudel, managing director at Himalayan Guides, said.

Other members of the rope-fixing team who scaled Ama Dablam include Siddhi Bahadur Tamang, Lal Kumar Tamang, Pasang Tenji Sherpa, Ngawang Paljor Sherpa, Lakpa Sange Sherpa and Namgel Dorjee Tamang.

Hundreds of climbers will be attempting the world’s most scenic mountain in the Everest region this season, as other 8,000m peaks, including Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Makalu, drew a blank due to adverse weather conditions, Paudel, who is also EOA vice president, said.
