Imagine Nepal-led Gasherbrum I 2025 expedition achieves milestone as climbers from Macedonia, China, and Nepal reach summit

KATHMANDU: Dr. Sashko Kedev has become the first climber from Macedonia to scale all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, following the successful summit of Gasherbrum I (G1) on July 20, 2025. The climb was led by Imagine Nepal, a prominent Nepali expedition company.

The summit team also included Chinese climber Wang Zhong and renowned Nepali high-altitude guides Dawa Gyalje Sherpa and Ngima Nuru Sherpa, with the ascent taking place at 10:44 AM PKT, according to Mingma G Sherpa, Managing Director of Imagine Nepal.

With the ascent of G1, which stands at 8,080 meters, Dr. Kedev has now completed the full list of the 14 eight-thousanders, including Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna, Shishapangma, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum II, Mingma G added.

Chinese climber Wang Zhong also made a significant stride toward his own 14-peak goal. With G1, he has now climbed nine of the world’s highest mountains, with five more to go, Imagine Nepal stated.

For Dawa Gyalje Sherpa, this marked his second ascent of Gasherbrum I. Dawa, from Nepal’s Rolwaling region, completed all 14 eight-thousanders in October 2024 and has an impressive record of 16 Everest summits, among others.

Ngima Nuru Sherpa, from Thame village, reached his 11th eight-thousander with this climb. He now has three peaks left—Gasherbrum II, Dhaulagiri, and Broad Peak—to complete the 14-peak challenge.
