KATHMANDU: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has installed new signage at the summit of Chulu East (6,584m), complete with the NMA flag and key peak information.
The installation was carried out under the initiative of NMA board member Sandesh Sherpa. The association has requested all climbing teams summiting Chulu East to photograph themselves with the signage visible in the background, as the images will be required for certification purposes.
Chulu East is among the 27 peaks for which NMA holds exclusive authority to issue climbing permits.
Established on 1 November 1973, NMA is Nepal's sole authorised national alpine club for permit issuance across this group of peaks, and works to promote mountain tourism, climbing sport, environmental protection and the cultural heritage of mountain communities.
