Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies (BMS) 5th Batch students from NMA summit the 7,126m tall mountain on November 8

KATHMANDU: A team from the Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA) has successfully completed its research and practical training expedition to Mt. Himlung Himal (7,126m), with nine students reaching the summit on November 8, 2025, according to Seven Summit Treks.

The ascent marks a significant milestone in integrating academic learning with hands-on mountaineering experience, reflecting the Academy’s commitment to developing Nepal’s next generation of mountain professionals, the NMA said.

The successful NMA summit team included students Rijan Shrestha, Biswash Gurung, Diken Maharjan, Geeta Basnet, Khendu Sherpa, Manoj Bhaila, Regan Kharel, Samish Bhattarai, and Shashwot KC. The expedition was led by Campus Chief Shiva Prasad Jaishi, accompanied by Sherpa guides and support members Suraj Khaiju, Gelje Sherpa, Sujan Gurung, Chhedar Bhote, Ang Sonam Bhechyaba Bhote, Jyamjo Lama, Sonam Sherpa, and Rabin Guragain.

The team’s efforts were supported by Dorchi Wangdak Bhote of Global Expeditions, with the climb conducted under the guidance of experienced mountain leaders.

The Academy extended congratulations to all participants, noting that the expedition reinforces its mission to blend mountain science, safety, and leadership training with real-world climbing experience.
