Mingma G scales Manaslu for eighth time, 7 without Oxygen

KATHMANDU: A renowned record-holding climber scaled the world’s eighth-highest peak for the eighth time on September 23 as his summit tally on Mt Manaslu without using supplemental oxygen rose to seven.

Mingma G, Managing Director at Imagine Nepal Treks, stood atop the mountain leading a group of 32 climbers from his company. Mingma G, who started his climbing career in 2006, is the first Nepalese to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000m without using supplemental oxygen.

“A team of 32 climbers from Imagine Nepal, comprising 15 international climbers and a 17-member Sherpa team, including a group Leader, Mingma G, reached the summit between 5:00 AM and 8:40 AM,” the company announced. This summit marks the 8th summit for Mingma G, in which seven were without oxygen.

Along with Mingma G, Kunnar Karu, Argo Öövel, Taavi Kruut, Xu Yang, Li Tianze, Rongrong, Jia Zhijie, Yuanyuan, Xie YuanLin, Guo Yu, Zeng Guoqiang, Lin Junlei, Yang Tingting, Lianlian, Hu Haina, Pasang Ngima Sherpa, Kami Sherpa, Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa, Ngima Nuru Sherpa, Jangbu Sherpa, Jit Bahadur Sherpa, Lhakpa Tenzing Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Fur Gelgen Sherpa, Dawa Sonam Sherpa, Thundu Sherpa, Pema Chhiri Sherpa, Ngima Nuru Sherpa, Dawa Tenjin Sherpa, Lakpa Tamang and Aangdu Sherpa also scaled Manaslu, according to Imagine Nepal Treks.
