KATHMANDU: German mountaineer Simone Molter successfully summited Makalu (8,485m), the world's fifth highest peak, early Saturday morning.
He summitted the peak alongside Sherpa guide Lakpa Gyaljen Sherpa, Altipro Adventures announced.
The pair reached the summit at 6:55 AM NPT on May 9, completing the ascent of one of the Himalaya's most technically demanding 8,000-metre peaks.
Kathmandu-based operator Altipro Adventures organised the expedition.
