KATHMANDU: Four prominent Nepali IFMGA/NNMGA-certified mountain guides successfully summited Denali (6,190m) — also known as Mount McKinley and the highest peak in North America — on June 13.

The team comprised Mingma Gyalje Sherpa (Mingma G), Tsering Pemba Sherpa, Tenji Sherpa, and Ashish Gurung. Mingma G said it was his second summit.

An IFMGA-certified international mountain guide, Tsering stands among a small elite of Nepali guides holding this globally recognized qualification, which demands years of technical training and rescue expertise. His work has taken him to Pakistan, India, Tibet, Africa, and Europe, leading international teams and training aspiring guides.

The Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), which announced the achievement, said the summit underscores the technical expertise, professionalism, and endurance of Nepal's mountain guiding community on the global stage.

All four guides hold IFMGA certification — the internationally recognised benchmark for professional mountain guiding — and are members of the NNMGA.
