KATHMANDU: Five climbers from 14 Peaks Expedition successfully summited Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 meters) in Papua, Indonesia, on Tuesday morning.

According to the expedition company, the summit team comprised Anar Burasheva of Kazakhstan, Navneet Kaur Cheema of the United States, Juan Pedro Morales Gomez of Mexico, and Russian climbers Semen Kuchin and Olga Mirosnikova.

The team was supported by three local guides — Hatta, Medo, and Tinus — whose leadership and navigation through Papua’s rugged limestone terrain were credited for the successful climb.

All members have safely descended to the base camp, the company confirmed adding that the expedition was conducted in partnership with Indonesia-based Tropic Adventure Papua.
