KATHMANDU: Joe Harvey, accompanied by guide Phurkitar Sherpa, has reached the summit of Lobuche East (6,119m) in the Khumbu region, completing a key acclimatisation milestone ahead of his Mount Everest attempt.
The ascent was organised by 14 Peaks Expeditions, which said Lobuche East forms an essential part of the acclimatisation process for climbers preparing for Everest, testing the body, mind and endurance at high altitude before the main summit push.
The peak offers panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu from the top.
Harvey's next objective is the summit of Mount Everest (8,849m).
