Passengers urged to check flight status; Nepalis in Israel and Iran asked to follow safety measures

KATHMANDU: The government and aviation authorities on Saturday issued separate advisories in view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, urging caution for air travellers and Nepali nationals residing in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is closely monitoring developments and advised Nepali nationals currently in Israel and Iran to strictly follow security instructions issued by local authorities. The Ministry urged them to remain indoors as much as possible, stay vigilant and avoid travelling without prior authorization.

Nepalis in both countries have been asked to maintain regular contact with the Ministry in Kathmandu as well as the Embassy of Nepal in Tel Aviv and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha. Those planning to travel to Israel or Iran have been strongly advised to defer their trips until the situation stabilizes. Nepali nationals in other Middle Eastern countries have also been urged to monitor developments and follow local precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) issued a passenger advisory through the Civil Aviation Office at Tribhuvan International Airport, stating that international flights may face delays, rescheduling or cancellations due to recent airspace restrictions over the Middle East.

Passengers have been requested to verify the latest flight status with their respective airlines before proceeding to the airport. The airport said it is coordinating closely with airlines and relevant authorities to ensure smooth passenger handling.

Contact numbers of major international carriers operating from Kathmandu, including Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Jazeera Airlines, Kuwait Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines, have been provided for updated flight information.

Authorities said the situation remains under review and further updates will be issued as necessary.
