KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on [DATE] called domestic airline officials and representatives for talks after receiving complaints that carriers were raising airfares to take advantage of the approaching festival season.

The meeting was convened on the directive of Prime Minister Balendra Shah and under the initiative of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

CAAN and airline representatives agreed that domestic carriers will sell tickets below the government-approved fare rate, and that airlines will publish this fare information on their own ticket sale and distribution platforms.
