KATHMANDU: Buddha Air has announced a significant upgrade in its credit rating, reaching A1 for short-term loan limits and LA for long-term loan limits, placing the airline in the top 1% globally in terms of financial reliability.
According to the company, the new credit rating marks a jump from its previous ratings of [ICRANP] A2+ (short-term) and LA- (long-term). The upgrade was granted by ICRA Nepal Limited, the country’s first credit rating agency and a subsidiary of India-based ICRA Limited. The rating audit was conducted in line with requirements from Nepal Rastra Bank, the country’s central bank.
Buddha Air credited the achievement to “28 years of consistent good governance, investments aligned with global standards, and the unwavering trust of its passengers.”
“This also proves that we have invested as per the global standard in all our operations and safety requirements,” the airline stated.
Established in 1997, Buddha Air is one of Nepal’s leading domestic carriers, operating regular flights across the country and into select international destinations.
