KATHMANDU: A helicopter belonging to Altitude Air crash-landed in Lobuche on Wednesday morning.
According to the company, the chopper (9N-AMS) had taken off from Lukla at 7:41 a.m. from Lobuche but met with an accident during its landing attempt at 7:52 a.m.
Altitude Air Chairman Nima Nuru Sherpa confirmed that the Airbus B3 helicopter, piloted by instructor Captain Bibek Khadka. The chopper, without carrying any passengers, flew from Lukla to rescue stranded tourists in Lobuche, he informed.
“Captain Khadka is safe and a Kailash Helicopter has already been mobilized for rescue operations,” he said.
Eyewitnesses said that no human casualties reported in the crash but the chopper suffered damages.
The pilot is currently being flown to Kathmandu for assessment.
